Assistant Director

A highly motivated and dynamic individual is required to join our senior leadership team. Working to a broad remit, the Assistant Director will have responsibility for operational management and effective delivery of our inspection and review functions. Over time, the Assistant Director may have responsibility for other areas of Education Scotland’s work.

Attainment Advisors

Attainment Advisors undertake a range of activities to promote equity and raise attainment and achievement.  Experience in a senior leadership role, a track record of delivering improved outcomes for learners, making best use of data and the ability to work well in teams and with colleagues at all levels in a support and challenge role are essential requirements for this challenging and rewarding role.

HM Inspectors of Education

HM Inspectors of Education (HMI) undertake inspections or reviews alongside other strategic development work and scrutiny activity. As an HMI, you will drive improvement in standards and quality through evaluative activities, dissemination of good practice and building capacity in the system for improvement.

You will operate with impartiality, fairness and diplomacy. As an HMI you will have significant experience in a senior leadership role and a strong track record of improving outcomes for learners.

We are especially interested in expertise in the following areas:

  • Early Learning and Childcare
  • Primary
  • Secondary

Senior Education Officers

Senior Education Officers lead the development and review of work in a specific area of education. You will have considerable experience of leading and overseeing significant education projects and programmes, strong leadership and management skills and a significant track record in leading improvements and change to achieve ambitious results.

Education Officers

Education Officers are responsible for managing and delivering key projects in a specific 3-18 curriculum area or other cross-cutting theme, area or aspect of educational provision or practice. With experience of planning and delivering major projects and initiatives, you will have excellent communication skills and a proven track record of successful engagement with partners and key stakeholders.

Development Officers work with colleagues throughout the education system, Scottish Government and other national organisations to develop, promote and support effective and innovative approaches within specialist areas.
